Application of Single-phase Frequency Drive and Difference from Three-phase Frequency Drive

Sep 11 , 2023

Single-phase inverter power supply is composed of one fire line and one zero line with a voltage of 220V, and it is called single-phase because it is only one fire line.

Characteristics of single-phase frequency drive

The single phase frequency drive adopts multiplexed PWM control, and the output voltage waveform is close to sine wave. The rectification circuit of the single-phase frequency drive is multiplicated, with more pulses, high power factor, and small input harmonics. It has a modular design, compact structure, convenient maintenance, enhanced product interchangeability, and high voltage output without the need for output transformers.

The single-phase frequency drive has extremely low dv/dt output and does not require any form of filters. Some use fiber optic communication technology to enhance product interference immunity and reliability. The power unit has an automatic bypass circuit, which can achieve non-stop operation in the event of a fault.

Applications of single-phase frequency drive

The single-phase motor frequency converter is a product that plays an important role in many places, not only because of its relatively special and key performance characteristics, but also because of the various advantages of the single-phase motor frequency converter. For professionals, the single-phase motor frequency converter can provide protection and control voltage with good effects.

Single-phase inverters are widely used in single-phase fans, water pumps, axial flow fans, and single-phase capacitor-start asynchronous motors. The single-phase motor frequency converter is a targeted frequency converter developed and produced for civil customers such as residential communities. It is simple and convenient to use, small and space-saving, easy to match and pack, and has a low failure rate, making it highly popular and suitable for long-term cooperation.

Differences between single-phase and three-phase inverters

The biggest difference between single-phase and three-phase inverters is that the power supply of the single-phase frequency drive is composed of one fire line and one zero line with a voltage of 220V, so it is called single-phase. The power supply of the three-phase inverter is three fire lines input, so it is called a three-phase inverter, also known as a three-phase input inverter.

In addition, the output voltage of the single-phase frequency drive is divided into single-phase output and three-phase output. Single-phase output is non-standard and prone to failure. It is a single-input and single-output configuration, and there are generally not many manufacturers producing it. The standard single-phase frequency drive is single-phase input and three-phase output. The three-phase output will not exceed the power supply voltage. This is slightly different from the output of the three-phase inverter. Therefore, their corresponding motor wiring methods are different. If the voltage wiring does not match, the motor will not have power.
