Midea Hiconics, a technology-driven enterprise under Midea Group specializing in energy-saving industrial control solutions, has successfully partnered with Tongda Thermal Power to implement an energy efficiency transformation project. Leveraging its advanced ‘high-power water-cooled VFD + integrated energy-saving solution,’ Midea Hiconics effectively addressed energy consumption challenges faced by the thermal power plant.
Located in Datong, Shanxi Province, Tongda Thermal Power, a subsidiary of Jinergy Holding Coal Group, is a major electricity supplier in Shanxi. Midea Hiconics provided a tailored solution, combining liquid coupling and variable frequency systems to achieve significant structural energy savings, optimizing efficiency and boosting customer returns.
Key Highlights of the Project:
1.Liquid Coupling System Enhancement:
The original liquid coupling system was preserved while integrating two 10kV/6300kW variable frequency drives (VFDs) for A and B pumps. This setup allows for seamless switching to a backup liquid coupling pump in case of VFD faults, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
2.Variable Frequency System Upgrade:
High-performance water-cooled VFDs with superior heat dissipation and reliability were implemented, enhancing the efficiency and stability of feedwater pumps. The system also included a software upgrade for DCS compatibility, improving operational precision and stability.
3.Innovative Cooling System:
An independent deionized water cooling system with automated controls was introduced, effectively addressing dust accumulation, filter blockages, and high maintenance costs associated with forced air cooling systems.
The transformation delivered remarkable results: enhanced water pump adjustment precision, reduced boiler feedwater fluctuations, and substantial energy savings.
This successful collaboration demonstrates the advanced capabilities of Chinese VFD technology for critical applications, setting a new benchmark for energy efficiency in the thermal power industry.
